  1. Canadian identification documents’ pictures must have the face and the hair (i.e. the whole head) fully exposed.

Ms. Mohamud is seen in some pictures not wearing any head covering, yet her passport shows her head covered. No wonder that it was difficult to identify her. She has no claim against the Canadian government, and should take reponsibility for her own choices and actions.

Law is Cool: No, the passport requirements we’ve linked to previously have exceptions fore religious requirements. She is free, as a Canadian citizen, to choose or not to choose to wear coverings of her choice.

Facial recognition software is not impacted by head coverings, and in this case was able to easily recognize her.

The government should take responsibility (sic) for their choices and actions that resulted in a Canadian citizen being wrongfully imprisoned.

  2. No, she may have been cheating by having her sister try to go to Canada.
