I wrote previously that this Friday would be a turning point in the
Abdelrazik case. His lawyers agree and predict contempt of court charges for the government if it fails to act. Another possibility is a motion for stay pending an appeal. We’ll know this week.

Sorry. There won’t be a change. The Harper govt will appeal – just as it has with the Feds’s order to request the repatriation of Omar Khadr.
I don’t know what the government would appeal on in this case. It is a pretty clear s. 6 violation. They could possibly appeal the remedy I guess (i.e. bringing him home), but denying him entry is a pretty clear Charter violation.
They haven’t denied him entry. They’ve just refused to give him a passport. He’s welcome to come in – if he makes it to the border.
And I’ll have you know that it’s a false rumour that Cannon denied entry to that noisy Scott, Gallagher. He merely advised him that he’d better pack a sleeping bag and the name of a cheap motel on the south side of the border when he got there – just in case the border guard took it upon him/herself decided not to let him in.
You don’t see a difference?
They do.
They are going to appeal. They don’t want him here. What do they have to lose by appealing? It’s our money, not theirs.
They know if they hold out long enough, – Abdelrazik won’t be around for the punchline.
Okay, so I’m eating my words on Abdelrazik:
For me, though, that was a win-win wager. I’m glad that the Privy Council has has the grace to admit that the Arch-Orwellian Big Brother, the U.S. Joint “Anti-Terrorism Task Force” was behind the whole Kafaesque travesty of justice.
