Former President and War Criminal George W Coming to Canada, March 17

LAW says Bush should be barred from Canada or Prosecuted

From Lawyers against the War: Please participate in this important initiative. LAW contact information is below.

Attention LAW members;

George W. Bush, former President of the United States of America (U.S.) and Commander in Chief of the Armed Force, is reported to be coming to Calgary Alberta on March 17, 2009 to speak at a private function. Evidence of Bush’s involvement in torture and other war crimes and crimes against humanity has triggered Canada’s legal duty to bar Bush from entering Canada and if he enters, to prosecute him for torture.

LAW has advised the Prime Minister of Canada, the Attorney General and the Ministers of Immigration, Public Safety and Foreign Affairs that George W. Bush is inadmissible to Canada under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.

Section 35(1) (a) states that a foreign national is inadmissible on grounds of violating human or international rights or for committing an act outside Canada that constitutes an offence referred to in sections 4 to 7 of the Crimes against Humanity and War Crimes Act. Also inadmissiable (s.35 (1)(b)) are persons who are, or were, senior officials “in the service of a government that, in the opinion of the Minister, engages or has engaged in gross human rights violations…”

Under sections 4 to 7 of the Crimes Against Humanity and War Crimes Act:

“crimes against humanity” includes murder, enforced disappearance, deportation, imprisonment, torture, imprisonment or other severe deprivation of physical liberty in violation of fundamental rules of international law, committed against any civilian population or any identifiable group. “war crime” includes wilfull killing, torture and inhuman treatment, unlawful confinement, willfully depriving a prisoner of war or other protected person of fair trial rights, intentionally launching that the attack will cause incidental loss of life or injury to civilians or damage to civilian objects or widespread, long-term and severe damage to the natural environment which would be clearly excessive in relation to the concrete and direct overall military advantage anticipated.

If there are reasonable grounds to believe a person has been complicit in any of these crimes, entry to Canada must be denied. The Supreme Court of Canada says reasonable grounds are “something more than suspicion but less than…proof on the balance of probabilities.”

  1. I support measures being taken to bar the admittance into Canada of George W Bush, former Presibent of the USA, who is known to the world as a war criminal and as a person who, in a position of authority,promoted,abetted or allowed people under his command to torture other people in violation of Canadian and International law.
    Canadian citizens expect and should be assured of adherance by the governmentof Canada to the letter and spirit of our own laws.

    I hope that your initiative will make the Calgary people rescind their invitation to Bush … there’s no way that I want him in Canada, and I certainly don’t want his policies to be fostered here! Maybe this will embarrass him enough (is that possible?) that he will cancel.

  3. George W. Bush is a guilty war criminal. Here are three obvious war crimes that are on-going in the holyland now, and were initiated by him while he was President of the U.S.A. and thus Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces U.S.A. 1) targeting and killing civilians, 2) torturing and killing prisoners of war, such as Bagram, Abu-Graib, Guantanamo Bay, and C.I.A. flights of extraordinary rendition to torture in hundreds of dark imperial spots around the world. 3) Collective Punishment, such as Shock and Awe, the bombing to rubble of hundreds of villages, towns, and cities throughout the region known as the worlds Holyland, such as Afghanistan, Iraq, Lebanon WMD, Palestine, WMD, Syria, WMD, Syria,WMD, Iran, WMD, and recently Russian Georgia, WMD, and Pakistan, Drone WMD, all because according to the Geneva Conventions of war, the people there abiding have decided to take up armed struggle as resistence to the illegal invasion and occupation of their countries. Furtther the Nuremburg Trials to which the U.S.A. and Britain and Canada are signed on to , and chaired by the U.S. judge Jackson, says that the planning and doing of aggressive war is the supreme international crime on the planet earth as it acctuates all other crimes high, low, big and small. According to the U.S. Constitution of which George W. is sworn to uphold, protect and defend all laws signed on to by the U.S.A. are to be treated as the supreme laws of the land. This man is a guilty war criminal many times over, far to many to put down in this small space, but certainly a war criminal internationally, and in breaking the national laws of his own country. My folks fought fascism in Both world wars from the First Canadian Division, and are party to the anti-fascist covenants of which their fighting brought into being, such as Nuremburg Trials, Geneva Conventions of war, United Nations Charter, World Court of the Hague, International Criminal Court, and the international War Crimes tribunal (Bertrand Russell style). It is a fact that Bush is guilty of war crimes by evidence in all these anti-fascist covenants. This in not surprising as his Grandfather Prescott Bush, was on the executive of the Thysson Corporation (U.S,A.), who after the Nazis Coup-d-etat in 1933 supplied Nazis Germany with a long list of war materiales from inside the U.S.A. itself. Things such as 50% of Germanies Pig Iron, and 45 percent of its High Explosives. Thysson was the finance capitalist who headed up the ‘Adolf Hitler project’ inside Germany from 1933 onward. Prescott Bush was closed down in Oct. 1942 by the ‘Trading with the Enemy Act’ which is U.S. law.

  4. Whether Mr. Bush ordered the commission of war crimes may be debated, but it should be beyond debate that, at the very least, he stood aside and permitted their commssion, and even did his best to obfuscate what was going on. Granted there were a few token exceptions where a few people on the bottom rung were punished but that was apparently little more than part of the campaign of obfuscation.

    If that’s not enough to raise a sufficient level of ‘suspicion of war crimes’ to prevent his legal entry into Canada then we ought to accept our rightful place among those that are willing to torture when it serves our purposes and stop pretending we aspire to any higher morality. If we do that, if we base our moral standards on doing what’s politically convenient, then we have already truly lost our way and we might just as well accept it.

    I think that when George Bush enters Canada he should be arrested on site and charged with war crimes
