		<description>I am a queer second generation Greek-American. I came out as transgender recently and decided to rename myself Saffo, partly as a way of forming a connection with Greece&#039;s queer history.

Personally, I think queers have just as much a right to claim ownership over Sappho and the name Lesbian as modern Greek people from Lesbos.
