Your contributors missed an obvious field that will increase in importance over time: employment law. The number of anti-discrimination laws at the federal, state, and local levels continues to increase. As the economy weakens and people are laid off, this will prompt lawsuits. Even in good times, the number of disgrunted employees is very high.

LawIsCool: Your hypothesis presumes that discrimination cases arise out of economic opportunity, and not bona fide issues of inclusiveness in the workplace. It may hold true if we assume that minorities will be more readily laid off than others. Otherwise, it detracts from the very real issue of workplace discrimination that require such suits.
